Tamil Tigers escalating violence in Australia

(August 29, Malbourne, Sri Lanka Guardian) Tamil Tigers are suspected to have spray-painted High Commission a car parked outside its premises in Canberra and thrown eggs at the walls last night. Australian Protective Intelligence Unit is investigating the new trend of violence of the Tamil Tigers in Australia.

This incident happened when the new High Commissioner, Senaka Walgampaya, was entertaining his staff for dinner at his residence. He has taken up temporary residence away from the official residence which is undergoing renovation.

The political content of the slogan painted on the road point directly to the Tamil Tigers. The slogan said : “Spill not innocent blood!” They have also left behind two drink cans.

The Tamil Tigers have been mounting global campaigns to stop the advance of the Security Forces into the Vanni – the last stronghold of the Tamil Tigers.

High Commissioner authorities have complained to the Australian Police and the Foreign Office.

Earlier suspected Tamil Tigers had tried to open the empty premises of the residence of the High Commission which is being renovated. The Tigers had left a huge stone on the entrance to the front door.

The Sri Lankan community too had complained to the Australian government and Police about the new trend of Tiger violence. On August 14, 2008 hate speeches of Tamil Tigers were broadcast. Tamil broadcasting station 3 CR (Community Radio) had relayed direct broadcasts from the Tiger agents in the Vanni crying: “Kill the Sinhalese!”

Ranjith Soysa, spokesperson for the Society for Peace, Unity and Human Rights (SPUR), had made representations to the Police but he said that no further action has been taken on he complaint.

Police are still investigating the vandalizing of the High Commission.
