(August 22, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka Guardian) A first year student of the eastern University was shot dead late night, Thursday, Police said.The student was from Pothuhera, Kurunegala.
Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara confirmed the incident and said that the shooting had taken place inside the university.
The body is due to be removed to the Valachchenai hospital. Police and TMVP cadres have visited the scene of the incident.
The incident comes in the wake of students from the south selected to the eastern university located at Vandaramullai refusing to register there due to security reasons.
