Letters were handed over to the senior foreign policy advisor of the governing party (CDU/CSU) Dr. Heinrich Kreft on 30th July 2008 at the administrative building of the German parliament – the Bundestag.

The initiative ´´Sri Lankans against LTTE Terror - Germany´´ (SLALG), was represented by Mr.Wijeratne Storz-Widanage, Mrs. Chandani Krishnaratne, Mr. Ranjaini Wijesekara and Mr. Lalith Ganhewa.

"The 30 min. meeting with Dr. Kreft was very friendly, cordial. Dr. Kreft listened to us with great interest " said the spokesperson of the initiative Ganhewa after the meeting.

In their 4 paged letter, the initiative ´´Sri Lankans against LTTE Terror - Germany´´ (SLALG), have explained the methods LTTE is using to extort money from the Tamil community in Germany. The Initiative points out that in a free and democratic nation like Germany, the German government is silent when LTTE is violating the human rights and the fundamental rights of the Sri Lankan Tamils who have made Germany their 2nd home.

In the letter the initiative goes on to say that LTTE is cheating the UNICEF and the world community including Germany and still recruiting children as soldiers and violating children's rights.

The group says Prabhakaran have silenced well over 35 democratically elected Tamil politicians and a number of Tamil human rights activists. They point out that even today Tamil politicians like Douglas Devananda and Anandasangaree have to live in fear due to death threats from LTTE.

SLALG says they admire the amount of precautions the government is taking to protect Germany from terrorism, but at the same time they express their regret for turning blind eye to LTTE activities on German soile.

SLALG goes on to say that Germany has reunited after 44 years, and they do not belive and hope that Germany will never support to separate Sri Lanka directly or indirectly.

Further the initiative says the only way to stop the terrorist problem in Sri Lanka is to dry out the funding channels to the LTTE. They point out that LTTE collects 3 million euros tax free annually from Germany.

Therefore, the initiative ´´Sri Lankans against LTTE Terror- Germany ´´have urged the Federal Government to:

1) Execute the EU Ban of the LTTE also in Germany on the highest level.

2) Ban the LTTE in all the 16 Federal States as a terrorist organization without any exclusion.

3) Ban all its front organizations active in Germany like the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), Tamil Youth Organization (TYO), and Tamil Coordinating Committee (TCC).

4) Execute strict Observations, Investigations and Punishments with regard to the fundraising activities of the LTTE in Germany in a sustainable way.

Over 1200 Sri Lankans and Germans from all over Germany took part in the demonstration on 26th July 2008 against the Sri Lankan terrorist group, the LTTE also known as Tamil Tigers in Berlin.
