(August 08, Berlin, Sri Lanka Guardian) Mr. T. B. Maduwegedara Sri Lanka Ambassador to Germany was on a good will visit to Bielefeld and Hamm in the federal state North Rhein Westphalia on 06th August.
Majority of the Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspora is concentrated in North Rhein Westphalia, which also the largest German federal State.
During the visit the Ambassador met the Sri Lankan Tamil community in Bielefeld and informed them on the present developments in Sri Lanka and also the massive development program in the Eastern province.
Ambassador Maduwegedara also met the Bielefeld city Government officials and the Head of the Central Authority for Aliens in Bielefeld where the Ambassador was able to counter certain misconceptions on Sri Lanka that had been spread by the LTTE propaganda machinery.
Mr. Waruna Wilpatha, first secretary of the Embassy accompanied Maduwegedara.
Later the Ambassador visited Europe's largest Hindu Temple, Sri Kamadchi Ampel Temple in Hamm. A special Pooja was held to evoke blessings to the Ambassador and for lasting peace in Sri Lanka.
