(August 06,Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) India supports Sri Lanka’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and its fight against terrorism and relations between the two countries are at the highest level, Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama told Parliament today.
The Minister made their remark in response to the allegations leveled by JVP Gampaha district MP Vijitha Herath who said the Government is dancing to the tune of India and giving into the demand for a full implementation of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.
“India is very delicately infringing on our sovereignty. We need to understand the role India is playing if we are to reap the benefits of the victories the military achieves in the warfront,” he said.
The MP also ridiculed the plans to unveil monument for Indian solders killed in Sri Lanka in the close proximity of the Parliament. ”Everyone knows that the chief prelate of the China Bay temple was shot dead by the IPKF when they were here .Now you are trying to set up a monument for them,” he said.
