(August 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The 57 Division, Commanded by Major General Jagath Dias, under the supervision of the GOC Wanni, Major General Jagath Jayasuriya, entered the Kilinochchi District this afternoon. The 57 became the 2nd Army Division to enter Kilinochchi in this undeclared operation/war after the 58 Division managed the same five days ago on August 1st.
4 Gemunu Watch (GW), Commanded by Lt. Col. Welikala made the first entry into Kilinochchi today, on behalf of the 57 Division. 4 GW captured the Vellankulam-Thunukkai road last week. This unit is advancing to the west of Mallavi, which town is being completely surrounded as we speak. - Sri Lanka Guardian
