(August 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) During the last month 106 soldiers and 24 civilians were killed, Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake speaking during the Emergency Debate in Parliament said, Wednesday.
He said 660 soldiers and police personnel and 31 civilians were also injured during the period.
"The victory is not far away. The LTTE has been surrounded by the security forces from the Vavuniya, Mannar and Welioya fronts", he said.
Meanwhile, the state of emergency was extended by another month in Parliament with 84 members voting in favour and 12 against.
The UNP abstained.
