(July 26, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Sri Lanka Muslim Congress has welcomed the unilateral ceasefire declared by the LTTE to coincide with the SAARC Summit. SLMC General Secretary Hassan Ali, in an interview to Virakesri, stated that the very word ceasefire brings joy to the peace loving people of the country.
He added that it would be an appropriate gesture if the government too reciprocate by making the unilateral ceasefire, a bilateral one. We despise the war that causes the deaths of the youths of this country.
He stressed that the SLMC is fully committed to finding a negotiated political solution to the ethnic problem of the country.
