(July 06. London, Sri Lanka Guardian) Despite the British police taking stern action against senior operatives of the LTTE in the UK, the LTTE activists are fearlessly organising events to glorify terrorism in the UK. One such event is the Pongu Thamil 2008 organised by anonymous persons. Pongu Thamil is a replica of the demonstrations held by the LTTE in Vanni in Sri Lanka.
Leaflets have been distributed widely around London. The LTTE campaigners are visiting Tamil shops and threatening the shop owners to put the shutters on the event day of 12 July 2007.
The event is taking place in Rohampton in the East London. Telephone campaign is being carried out by the campaigners and the LTTE radio International Broadcasting Corporation operating at the medium wave Spectrum Radio station is giving heavy publicity for the event.
The anonymous organisers have set up a website ponguthamil.co.uk for this purpose.
