Half of President’s elected life is almost over -Johnston

(July 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Johnston Fernando , UNP M.P. and President of the JSS , the UNP Trade union, addressing the Media at the UNP Media unit today (6Jul), said that the July 10th strike is the product of the Rajapakse Govt. Because the Govt. failed to fulfill the promises it made to the people and the working class through it’s much crowed about Mahinda Chintana (now, better known as the Mahinda Karadara), the workers are up in arms against the Govt.

Since, 2006, after this Govt. came into power, there has never been a salary increase to the workers, he exclaimed. During the two and half years it has only been riding ruthlessly on the shoulders of the working class and the masses heavily burdening them with price, tax and tariff hikes justifying its atrocities pointing to an unending war .It does not allow the Media to report the factual position on the war as it fears that if the truth is out, people will not yield any more to the sufferings inflicted by the Govt. In other words, it is Prabha of North who is saving Rajapakse of south to continue in power. But, for this so called ‘war’, the Govt. will have no answers to give to the people’s hardships and sufferings, he exhorted.

President is offering rewards to catch the culprits and criminals involved in the murders and attacks of Media personnel. In that case,what use are the Police and law enforcing authorities of his drawing huge salaries appointed for ? He asked. President is trying to fool all the people all the time until he gets fooled once and for all, he concluded.
