Davanada Hold Talk With The Trade Union of His Ministry

(July 11, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A group of officials representing Sri Lanka Social Service Officers’ Trade Union met at a discussion with Douglas Devananda, Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare at his Ministerial office yesterday (10.07.2008) concerning the problems arising out from their vocations. A decision was arrived at for action forth-with to sort out the issues in relation to the programmes; being implemented, new programmes already launched Island-wide through the Divisional Secretariats; their salary anomalies and promotions. Minister instructed his officers concerned, for immediate implementation the decisions so taken.

The Minister made it a point to thank the officer representatives for acting with fore-sight to sort out their problems through discussions on a day when Trade Union action is being sought Island-wide for the very same purpose. Minister Devananda speaking further said that he was always ready to resolve the problems of the officers serving under him, fairly and justly so that they in turn could gave their best to the people.
