(July 24, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) As the presidential elections draws closer in the United States, the excitement and interest grows by the day not only in the US but also world-wide. This is because the US is still the most influential country in the world. The candidates Barak Obama and John Maccain are working in a frenzy to garner as many votes to themselves as possible. A very significant vote is that of the important minorities in the US.
They are the Black Americans, the Muslims the Jews and the Hispanics. The Jews have a tremendous, clout in the US election as they are the major share holders and owners of the multi – national companies, the media industry, the commercial banks and the film- industry. It is common knowledge that unless a candidate has support from the Jewish Lobby, he will not be elected as the president. So both candidates are bending backwards to impress upon the Jews that in the conflict between the Jews and the Muslim Arabs, both Obama and Maccain are on the side of the Zionist States of Israel. Both are issuing innumerable statements in support of the Jews and the Jewish Lobby are very pleased with the campaign carried out in their favour. If Obama promises more, the Jewish Lobby will opt for him, if Macain promises more they will support him.
Obama has the edge because he belongs to the Democratic party, while Maccain is from the Republican party. George W. Bush a republican during the presidential campaign said that the US must not act arrogantly, because people world-wide would hate it. Muslims in the millions flocked to vote for the man who has turned out to be the most anti—Muslim president in US history. All those Muslims who campaigned for Bush are disillusioned because millions of Muslims have been killed maimed and displaced in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Palestine in Bush’s war against Muslims. In fact the “war against terror” is a euphuism for war against Islam and Muslims.
However it is disturbing that in his latest statements despite the fact that John Maccain being the candidate of the unpopular Republican party Obama has shamelessly tilted towards the Jewish Lobby to out do Maccain in support of the Zionist State of Israel and the American – Israel Public Affairs Committee [AIPAC]. Although Obama has mesmerized millions of Americans especially younger ones, with his rhetoric and promise to curtail the influence of special interest groups, he failed in his very first test. On June 4th , appearing before the AIPAC, the Zionist lobby group that claims to speak on behalf of all American Jews but represents only the Fascist wing of it, Obama pledged complete subservience to Israel. He said he would defend Israel and strengthen US – Israel ties. He even declared that Jerusalem would remain the “undivided” capital of the Zionist State, while pledging to protect Israel he threatened to bomb Pakistan.

One does not have to agree with either to assert that they have the right to their opinions, however toxic, if Americans claim to have a free society.
His pronouncements about Hamas are even more problematic as they once again underscores his support for Israel. Obama does not accept the Palestinian’s right of return and opposes talks with Hamas as long as it refuses to recognize Israel. Obviously Obama believes that the Zionists ‘ theft of Palestine land, and their ethnic cleansing of the Palestine people is justified. The campaign of dispossession continues, but Obama is only concerned about the security of apartheid Israel, not about the rights or lives of the Palestinians who were daily murdered with US supplied weapons.
It is surprising that Obama is ignorant of the 750 Zionist check points in the West Bank, the daily beating and humiliation of the Palestinians and the prisoner conditions in Ghazzah that have resulted in mass starvation. On what basis does Obama grant the Zionists a license to kill while denying the Palestians any right to self – defence? He is equally hostile to Iran, supporting the illegal sanctions imposed through the UN, despite Tehran’s adherence to its NPT obligations. He did not vote for the Iraq war, but he is cagey about how soon he will withdraw US troops from there. He is also silent about the permanent military bases the Bush regime wishes to establish and maintain in Iraq.
American politicians are not elected to serve the interest of the people who elect them, or do what is right or just. The entire system is a fraud by which people are led to believe that they have a say in who rules them, a fraud that fools enough of the people enough of the time . This illusion is maintained and re-enacted every four years so that the masses can be deluded in to thinking that they have a free choice. In reality regardless of who is elected to the White House in November, there will be little changes in US policy. The endless cycle of wars that is a systematic need of the US establishment since independence will continue no matter who occupies the White House. Only when US suffers a military defeat comparable to that suffered by the then Soviet Union in Afghanistan should Muslims dare to hope for change. That military defeat for all imperialistic powers is in the horizon. It is a Muslim army that will accomplish the defeat of neo – colonialism and imperialism.
Already Muslims fighters are engaged in confronting the US and the Nato in Afghanistan. In Iraq both Shia and Sunni are struggling against the US, Britain and other European forces there. In Palestine Islamic movements like Hamas, Hizbullah and Islamic Jihad are confronting the cruel Zionist regime. In Somalia, the Union of Islamic Court and the “Shihab” mujahideen are fighting the US backed Ethiopian intruders and the puppet transitional government there. In Pakistan Muslim fighters are involved in a do or die fight against the US and their local puppets. In Kashmir, Muslim mujahideen are fighting Indian troops, in the Philippines Muslims in Mindano and in the south of the country are fighting the US backed Philippines government, In southern Thailand Muslim fighters are struggling against the pro US government for greater autonomy for the south. Iran is preparing for the final war. In the future these struggles will snowball to eradicate neo-colonialism and imperialism, so that a new just world order God willing, will prevail to bring peace and justice to this strife –torn troubled world.
