Four including Senior Sea Tiger Killed
(June 11, Mannar, Sri Lanka Guardian) SLN foiled an attempt of LTTE to attack the naval out post at Errukkalampiddy close to Vedithalthievu in Mannar, around 0215hrs today (11.June 2008), the SLN sources said
According to the Source, “In the confrontation ensued, one LTTE boat out of the cluster which arrived from Vedithatlthievu had been destroyed and four LTTE cadres including a senior cadre named Sirimaran had been killed.”
Meanwhile According to the LTTE sources, “The operation was carried out by Marine Commandos, a special forces unit of the Sea Tigers. The Tigers have seized 50-caliber machine guns, 81 mm mortars, Light Machine Guns, Rocket Launchers and several other military hardware from the camp.”
“Two 50 caliber machine guns, two 81 mm mortars, two PK-LMGs, one Rocket Propelled Grenade Launcher (RPG), one Light Anti-tank Weapon (LAW), two 60 mm mortars, one AK-LMG, three T-56 assault rifles, one radar equipment, many shells, explosives and several other military equipments were seized by the Sea Tigers.” it added.
Sea Tigers attributed the mission to the memory of Lt. Col. Kadaafi, a commander of the Sea Tigers Special Engineering Division, who was killed two months ago.- Sri Lanka Guardian
