LTTE writ fails in London

NEWS FLASH

(June 11, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) The diaspora Tamils have rejected the LTTE fronts British Tamil Forum and the Tamil Information Centre’s appeal to join in a massive demonstration to protest against the President Mahinda Rajapakse’s visit to London to participate in the Commonwealth conference.

Both the LTTE fronts gave maximum publicity for the demonstration in the LTTE front media including Deepam TV, Tharisanam TV and IBC. The LTTE media appealed to the Tamils to participate in the protest and show their solidarity with the LTTE.

Only about 200 diehard supporters turned up for the LTTE in front of the Commonwealth Secretariat based at Pall Mall in the Central London. On the opposite side of the road another 200 Tamils joined the protest organised by the free thinking Group for Justice and Equality. The LTTE group was screaming against the President whilst the Group for Justice and Equality were espousing against the Government of Sri Lanka and the LTTE on human rights violations.

Full details of the event will be reported later.
