(June 12, Kathmandu, Sri Lanka Guardian) Former King Gyanendra and Queen Komal have left the Narayanhiti Palace at around 8:31 pm, Wednesday evening.
They left the palace in a black Mercedes (Ba.1.Cha 5624) escorted by security personnel.
A huge crowd of media persons and general people had gathered in front of western gate of Narayanhiti Palace when they left for Nagarjuna Palace located 8 km northwest of the Kathmandu valley.
Earlier today, former King organising a press meet at Narayanhiti Palace asserted that he has decided to leave the Narayanhiti Royal Palace honouring the people's verdict.
The first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA) on May 28 had formally declared Nepal a federal democratic republic asking former King to leave the palace within 15 days.
Former King has also said that he handed over crown and sceptre to the Nepal government.
Refuting allegations that he or his family was involved in the royal massacre 2001, former King said that the royal palace massacre rumours were intended to tarnish his and his familiy's image. - Sri Lanka Guardian

The Maoists wanted the king out, not just because Prachanda and his communist clique are for the liberation of the Nepalese people, but because he craves for power, and anticipates being able to be an 'elected king.'
