(June 06 , Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) At least 22 civilians have been killed and over 50 civilians wounded in a suspected LTTE bombing. According to Moratuwa Police sources a curfew has been imposed in Moratuwa, following this cowardly bomb attack on innocent civilians. The curfew has imposed from 9.00 a.m today, police sources added.
According to Defence sources, the roadside bomb was placed at a location between Shailabimbaramya Buddhist temple and the University of Moratuwa. Targeting a bus, bearing number 29 Sri 1885 that was traveling from Kottawa to Mount Lavinia (Route number 255).
The explosion to the bus in Katubedda came two days after suspected LTTE cadre blew up a rail track near the Sri Lankan capital wounding 27 people.
The latest explosion targeting civilians comes as the Sri Lanka's military presses on with an offensive to retake the LTTE' northern stronghold inland.
Meanwhile, police sources say a five kilogram claymore mine has been found on the Watarappala road in Mt Lavinia. Luckily the explosives were detected before the explosion.
At the moment the military has the upper hand in the latest phase of the long-running war given their superior air power, strength of numbers and swathes of terrain captured in the island's east. However, they still see no clear winner on the horizon.- Sri Lanka Guardian
These terrorist attacks by TAMIL TIGERS are designed to create a Black Jluy situation. As they face increasing pressure in the North, they want to raise the cost of war to the South. First to create a horrible humantarian incident like in 1983 and second to isolate Sri Lanka by then trying to portray all Sinhalese as barbarians when it is the TAmil tigers who are the barbarians in this war. In 1983 it was the UNP led thugs of the JSS who were responsible for creating the violence with Ranil's Uncle JR's connivance. The majority of Sinhalese had nothing to do with that hitler like pogrom. Of course we played right into Tiger terrorist tamil hands. BE CAREFUL. NO MATTER WHAT the provocation, we cannot resort to that sort of retaliation against innocent tamils. WE have to kill the tigers only.

Excellent post. I am assuming you are Sinhalese? Don’t think Thamils portray all Sinhalese as barbarians. Its not and excuse but this is probably the consequence of killing civilians in Vanni few days a go. Shouldn’t happen like this as innocent civilians are the ones who are suffering as Governmnet, its 200 ministers, and the LTTE leadership are having a good time.

It is sad that npeople think these barbaric acts o tamil terrorists are a reaction for the so-called vanni cilvilian killings as reported in the tamil net. This terror net has time and again fooled the unsuspecting readers with doctored immages and reports. I catagorically say that so-called civilian killings are totally "UNVERIFIED". Unless they can be verified as authentic I assume that they are just a excuse for the planned barbaric acts against innocent civilins here. The pattern is that the tamilnet publishes civilian killings that are unverified to be follwed by a series of massacers here. Tamilnet even used a picture from Iraq and publushed it as a murder committed by SLDF and the unsespecting readers are taken for a damn good ride by the tamil terrorists. Time that people open their eyes and see tha reality.

Totally disagree with you on killings in Vanni. I don’t think you can question Tamilnet’s integrity when there are people like Mr Ramukwella around. Yes I agree there are certain LTTE websites fabricate stories and doctor photos. I guess if people believe everything Keheliya Rambukwella says, there are no LTTE left? Isn’t that what Mr Fonseka says too.
