(May 02, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) UNP Gen. Secretary Tissa Attanayake complained that the Govt. is now engaged in a vicious series of harassments aimed against the UNP in the upcoming Eastern provincial Elections.It refused to provide a helicopter to the Opposition Leader for the election campaign blatantly dishonouring its promise made earlier.
The Batticaloa Municipal Council too has disallowed the party to hold its election rally on May 4th which is a convenient venue and offers minimum risk to Ranil Wickremesinghe‘s life..
This venomous refusal has compelled UNP to hold its rally at a garden of a UNP candidate in the District. He warned that the Govt. should take full responsibility if any harm befalls the UNP Leader.
