Ranil said that it is the duty of all to discard party politics and work towards saving this Industry which is on the verge of collapse. Over one million people are depending on this for their livelihoods, he exclaimed.
The Generalised system of preferences (GSP) concession given to the Industry if withdrawn at the end of the year would have a disastrous effect. This situation has been occasioned by the Govt.’s failure to adhere to the 23 International treaties to which it is a signatory.
If all party leaders emulate Ranil Wickremesinghe‘s political gesture subordinating party politics to people’s interests, this country’s disastrous trend could be reversed.
