(May 26, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) With the latest steep price hikes in the fuel, all Bus fares are to be raised from midnight today, by the Govt. A 27.2 % raise in fares is to be heaped on the commuters! More hardships on the hapless masses are also to follow, as the fuel price hike will certainly ripple through all sectors, especially transport of goods.All food items will also shoot up in price as transport is vital for their movement from place to place.
Petroleum Minister Fowzie, of course, says he is doing this exercise on a ‘systematic formula ’. But, Dallas, the Transport Minister, apparently, is not endowed with such mental gifts to devise ingenious formulae like Fowzie, though both belong to the same ‘people burdening mania’Govt. clan , so, he says , bus fare hikes are inevitable from his point of view.
Masses can only endure as there is no cure for this sadistic mania of the Ministers and their Govt.!
