(May 28, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) “Douglas Devananda, Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare, has made arrangements to hold the competitive examination for recruitment to Grade I Segment B of Unified Postal Service as soon as possible in Jaffna,” the EPDP said in a statement.
According to the statement received by Sri Lanka Guardian, “The Minister resorted to this course of action subsequence to a discussion the applicants to this examination had had with him on the 26th instant. This competitive examination was held in Colombo on the 16th of May 2008 and the applicants from Jaffna had received their admission cards one week after the examination.”
“Under these circumstances when the applicants had appealed to the Postal Department the examination for them was scheduled to be held on the 9th of June 2008 in Colombo. Due to transport and other difficulties experienced by the people of Jaffna, the Hon. Minister has taken steps to hold this examination in Jaffna as soon as possible, consequent a telephone conversation he has have with the Hon. Minister of Posts and Telecommunication,” it added.
