Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo today (May 12th), he said that the JVP completely rejected the results of the Eastern Provincial Council elections.
By crippling the youth who protested against the Act against Terrorism in 1987 and by sending a group of thugs to rig votes at the 1981 District Development Council elections, J.R. Jayawardena made it possible for the LTTE to make the best out of the situation, Dissanayake said.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa did the same as J.R. Jayawardena at the Eastern Provincial Council elections, he added, noting that the 110-man cabinet was used as a vote machine rather than to serve the country.
The JVP will form a broad National Front against such a situation, MP Dissanayake said, emphasising that the public should not accept the results of the election either.
