India extends ban on LTTE by two years

(May 15, New Delhi, Sri Lanka Guardian) The union government on Thursday extended by two years the ban on the Sri Lankan terrorist outfit, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), as an unlawful association.

The notification to this effect was issued by the home ministry.

Officials in the ministry said the activities of the LTTE continued to pose threat, and are detrimental to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India as also public order.
