(April 08, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Singala-Tamil bilingual feature film Prabhakaran is facing more and more troubles from Pro Tamil Eazham activists from Chennai. Thol Thirumavalavan, the VCK Founder, has successfully got the interim stay on this film for screening within the Indian Territory. Now the Gemini Colour Laboratory refused to handover the Sinhalese and Tamil language negatives robbed from the Director of the controversial film titled Prabhakaran.
A couple of weeks ago, some of the Pro-LTTE political activists attacked the director and robbed the negatives of the feature film named after the LTTE leader Prabhakaran when the director Thushara Peiris was in Chennai at Gemini Laboratories. He came here to supervise the processing of the film after giving up his protest fast to obtain his film in Colombo Hospital.
Now, according to the Director, the Laboratory administrators asked for a letter from the Union Government in New Delhi to handover the negatives of the film to its rightful owners when the director approached them to receive the negatives he owned. The laboratory owners also told that the film negatives robbed from the director could be released only with the permission of the Central Government of India.
Meanwhile Thirumavalavan, went to the City Civil court in Chennai to block the release of the film from the Laboratories. The Additional City Civil Court judge Sethuraman issued an interim stay order to deliver the prints of the film for a week. He has issued notices to the State Home Secretary, Director General of Police the Union Home Secretary Sinhala film producer Osmund de Silva and film director Thushara Peiris to file a counter in two weeks.
