In the meantime the nominations of an Independent Group, the Ruhunu Janatha Party and United Democratic alliance for Batticaloa District were also rejected by the returning officer for the noncompliance of nomination regulations.
Meanwhile, the SLMC delegation led by party leader Rauff Hakeem and the UPFA delegation led by Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle handed over their nominations today in Trincomalee for the upcoming Provincial Council elections in the East.
Meanwhile, the security provided to Sri Lanka Muslim Congress leader Rauff Hakeem has been completely withdrawn.
However, he will be given security as a candidate at the eastern provincial council elections.
The withdrawal of Hakeem’s security came in a motion filed by the Attorney General on behalf of the IGP and the Defence Secretary, in response to a fundamental rights petition by Hakeem, that was taken up today (Apr. 03rd).
