The Regime Playing with Democratic Norms

(April 25, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Govt.’s failure to make the elections in the Eastern Province conducive to Democratic norms; and alleged Govt. backed intimidations and election related violence.
The mounting terror and open violations of the election law by the pro Govt.

TMVP Karuna group and Govt. candidates have been condemned even by independent election monitoring groups.

The JVP charged that the Govt. is using State vehicles for its election campaign and spending State funds on Rest Houses and circuit Bungalows which are all booked for its candidates.
