(April 22, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Ravi Karunanayake , UNP parliamentarian speaking to the Media on today (22 Apr) said the whole objective of this Govt. is to perpetuate itself in power feeding the people with lies , deceits , camouflages and suppression of the truth .
Ministers like Fowzie and Bandula Gunawardena are exceptionally qualified to bolster this aim of the Govt. while its Central Bank Governor Cabraal leads the group of Govt. officials who are camouflaging the true dismal picture of the county’s economy. By all this the Govt. is only trying to keep the people in the dark using also its Media until there is a total economic holocaust.

So, you can see the price machinations employed by the Govt., he asserted. This is like the discounts given by hoodwinking traders who jack up the price, and then give a discount, he added.
He referred to Central Bank Governor , Cabraal whose name has become a synonym for camouflage , and explained the kindergarten style theories on economics he advances : Cabraal asks ,if there is no money in the country , how is that Super Markets are flourishing ? It is unimaginable how such a qualified economist can stoop to this level, Karunanayake exhorted.
Showing the one cent coin during the UNP regime and that now, to the audience,he said , their appearances alone are enough testament of the economic doom precipitated by this Govt. Since its advent.
If the country is to boast of any economic growth or development, these have all been during the UNP tenures in Office: the highest rice yield was achieved during the UNP; the highest economic growth was during the UNP. These are among the other numerous programs launched by it. The Rajapakse Govt.’s achievements have been only on paper and through camouflages presented by it’s so called economic experts and bungling corrupt Ministers.
Even during the raging Iraq war which affected the economy of the World, the UNP at that time was able to maintain the economic equilibrium unlike this Govt. which is using the so called ethnic war as a facade to hide its murky activities and blunders
If the Govt. is winning the war (promised to complete by 31st Mar 2008!), why is it suddenly doing a ‘U’ turn, and looking for a unitary and federal solution? He asked
