(April 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Member of Parliament and senior member to the main opposition, the United National Party, Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena addressing the media on today (8April) regretted that this Rajapakse Government is even desecrating places of religious worship.Referring to the 600 year old ancient church in Madu which had been a place where thousands of devotees of all religious faiths visit annually , he said , because of the Govt.’s bungling war even the Priests who were there for long years had to shift. The valuable statues also cannot be protected in consequence of the war being dragged to this once safe place which provided refuge to so many displaced persons.
