Maithripala Sirisena is the target!

(April 22, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) It is reported that a prominent figure of the President’s Media unit has over the weekend tipped off the Media that a prominent rice Mill owner from Polonnaruwa has communicated to wholesale rice Dealers not to comply with the Govt. price control on rice, and that he would take care of the consequences, as it is just a passing cloud which will be nullified soon.

However, inquiries made had shown no wholesale Trader in Pettah has received such communications.

It is a well known fact that Minister Sirisena’s brother Dudley Sirisena owns most of the Rice Mills in Polonnaruwa . Indeed, recently the Minister and his brother have been even blamed for operating a Rice Mafia which was alleged as the cause of the steep rice price hikes.

With this backdrop and the recent alleged ‘clashes ‘between the President and the Minister over internal issues, there is an alleged conspiracy to discredit the Minister by the President, reports say.
