EP polls: Defeat outrageous terror by voting without fear - Ranil

(April 30, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Ranil Wickrmesinghe, Leader of Opposition, addressing a rally in Trincomalee yesterday (29 Apr) said, not only here, even the whole World is protesting against the use of arms by the Govt. backed Pillayan group TMVP. Therefore, it is the Govt.’s incumbent duty to bring them into the Democratic mainstream. Even the UNP will lend its support to such a move, he added.

The TMVP is terrorising the Eastern province and the civilian population. The UNP, if it wins, will pass a motion in the Provincial Council to disarm the TMVP, Ranil asserted.

Quoting from the Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita, Ranil drew an analogy between the upcoming election and the Kurukshetra war where one group, the evil terror group of 100 brothers fought Arjuna and his forces that stood for justice.The Govt. Like the Brothers’ group is trying to win by terror and tricks. In the Kurukshetra war, Arjuna acting on the advice of God Krishna to do his duty, finally won the war.

Leader of Opposition too urged the people of the East to do their duty by voting without fear, and not to be afraid to vote for the UNP.

UNP Trincomalee District MP speaking at the meeting, said he sacrificed his Parliamentary seat, in a bid to send this Govt. home amidst loud cheers!
