According to Ranil, “The present day women of Sri Lanka who are themselves facing many difficulties should join hands, and become an intimate and integral part in finding solutions to clear obstacles impeding them in this ever changing competitive world.”
The women of today are confronted by financial and social hardships to upkeep a growing family. Some of the issues are the break up of family units consequent upon loss of their husbands following abductions, torture, cruelties and loss from war, he said.
It is my fervent wish that it is time that everyone focuses more attention on the plight of women on this International Women`s day, he added.
