“Prabha will commit suicide soon”

(March 02, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) LTTE Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran will soon commit suicide by swallowing the cyanide capsule tied around his neck, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe predicted.

Amarasinghe made the prediction when he met members of the Foreign Correspondents Association of Sri Lanka at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo.
“LTTE Leader Prabhakaran will soon have to commit suicide by swallowing the cyanide capsule tied around his neck while the LTTE will come to an end without a leader. The people imprisoned in the areas held by the LTTE will soon revolt against him and destroy him. He will have no choice other than to die by swallowing cyanide,” Amarasinghe told the foreign journalists.

The JVP Leader also said that national interest should always be given first priority, though innocent civilians should not be harmed because of the war.

Speaking further, Amarasinghe said that the JVP would not let the government devolve power under any circumstances based on ethnicity or religion to legitimise separatism.

“Though the government is trying to implement the 13th Amendment, it is against the Mahinda Chinthana and the President has not received a mandate to implement devolution of power. The 13th Amendment will not solve any of the problems faced by Muslims, Tamils or the Sinhalese living in north and east. It will only lead to another power platform for corrupt politicians,” Amarasinghe added.
