This is a matter of deep concern, as, already the Govt. is under a barrage of accusations of promoting lawlessness if that will only serve Govt.`s political expediency and selfish purposes even at the cost of the entire Nation , democratic institutions and the country.
In this case too, Mervyn the scourge of the country and the century along with his country wide known underworld gang are still parading as heroes after committing the worst villainy. Neither, the President who should be the first to take measures, particularly because it is a State Institution and its staff who are the victims, nor the Govt. or the Police have lifted as much as a finger to bring the culprits to book despite so many continued assaults having been inflicted targeting the Rupavahini staff !
As a last resort, the Unions have decided to strike .while also urging all State workers to unite and rise against this State tyranny.
President once said he will not follow jungle laws. Perhaps, he has no other choice now, because, he has allowed those laws to pervade the whole country!

Two wrongs do not make a right. SL Roopavahini has a strong security contingent. The Police station is just nearby. Instead of calling the on-site Security for immediate protective action and arrest of the so called "gang", the staff of Roopavahini decided to take the law into their own hands and shed Mervyn Silva's blood through aggravated assault leading to Grievous Bodily Harm to the Minister! What kind of institution allows that? If the Fourth Estate is seen to exercise their right of non-accountibility in their professional activities, then this is a case of two opposing parties using their own "professional privileges"!! One used his Parliamentary Membership privileges while the Rooavahini staff used the Journalistic licences!!!
Hardly any wonder that citizen Piyadasa has no such privileges but has to listen to all these Free Media hyerboles on action and reaction of two privileged parties in our blessed land doing what comes naturally as "Sri Lankan Natural Justice" developed over the last 30 years of a conflict ridden society.
Why do they have to associate the President with all this. He has enough national problems as inherited again over the last three decades of misrule and lawlessness.
When the leadership is not effective and not take action against morally bankrupt friends, we are sending a wrong message to the community.
Mervyn's act is against Mahinda Chinthanaya. If he was punished and sacked from the government, we wouldn't have this mess.
It is sad to see Mahinda Chintyanaha is being influenced by Iranian Chinthanaya.
