(February 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) President Rajapakse paid a glowing tribute to Late President Premadasa as a Leader who worked hard to develop the country and resolve the ethnic crisis, at the unveiling of the portrait of the former President at the Parliamentary complex, according to sources in the main opposition party the UNP.
“Leader of Opposition present at the event said, late Premadasa was a President who respected Democracy and gave the Parliament its due place and supremacy as the people’s representative body in true Democratic traditions. Even though he had all the powers, he never sought to sideline or bypass Parliament”, the sources added.
Sajith Premadasa , son of Late Premadasa also spoke at the event also other family members of Late President also participated at the event.
President Rajapakse has taken 11 years after the death of late President Premadasa to realize his values. Can it be that, after 11 years or earlier perhaps, Rajapakse will similarly admire UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe`s efforts to resolve the ethnic crisis?
