(February 22, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A delegation of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) comprising its Secretary-General Anders B. Johnson, President of its Human Rights Committee Ms. Sharon Castairs and Secretary of the same committee Ms. Ingeborg Schwartz called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday (21) evening.A lengthy discussion on ways and means of strengthening the parliamentary system in Sri Lanka took pace. The IPU appreciated the keen interest shown by the President in strengthening the parliamentary system and offered its total support.
