Positive and Negative

by Victor Karunairajan
______________

Positive and Negative
Together take a walk
Their destination decided
Without haggle or quibble.
But once set on the way
Negative becomes troubled
Too many doubts, fears too
Should it really be?
Or why not another route
Even a return to base!

Surely and silently
Positive marches on
Inch by inch behind
Negative loses ground.
He still follows him
Dragging both his feet
Unsure of himself
Assailed by doubts
Fears of the unknown
Nightmare obsessions
And lacking enormously
The spirit of courage.

Once around a bend,
Negative loses sight
Of Positive on the march
Undeterred by worry
Determined to reach
The goal they set together.

What can Negative do
But In sheer vexation
Return to the base
That will always be
Now and for ever
Be his dreary den.

Thank God for Positives
Despite the Negatives
They will march forward
With melodious rhythm.
