(January, 02, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) It was only recently, John Graham was awarded the best liar in the world prize in London. It was fortunate for Graham that London judges did not reckon our Bandula Gunawardena, the Minister of consumer affairs (and for high cost of lying ! ) of Sri Lanka .If they did , Graham would have been beaten hollow by this Duffer of a Minister with his lying prowess.
Certainly, Bandula has also a great advantage over Graham, for he is gifted with a god given face that contorts in harmony when he distorts the truth and presents lies to the gullible consumers of Sri Lanka. !
A few of Bandula’s countless lying are enumerated below which bear testimony to his monumental lying talents:
Whenever the prices of flour and bread were raised, he said, he was filing action against the Prima Company. People have not seen any such legal action even after his promise many months ago when there was a Rs. 13.00 hike on flour per kilo .But, of course, people are continuing to see in plenty his action in style when he profusely lies. !
The last time when gas price was steeply raised unbearably burdening the masses by
Rs. 353.00, he promised that there is a Court order, and therefore there will not be steep increases any more of three digit price hikes. Not even two months have passed by, he raises the price of Gas by Rs. 175.00! This Bluffer Duffer economist may not be knowing what a three digit figure means, eh!
The flour and bread prices were raised once again a week ago by Rs.9.00 per kilo under his very nose – this Minister for consumer despair had no explanation to offer on this occasion – but, his blatant lying prowess came to his rescue !– he said , he is not aware of the price increase.!! What an answer by a responsible Minister!
What a Minister! what a Governmnet.!!
