EROS Opens It’s Office in Amparai

(January, 14, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) After not contesting in elections since the mid-'90's the Eelam Revolutionary Organisation (EROS) has dispatched its senior members members back to Sri Lanka from Europe and Canada to take part in the forthcoming elections. EROS has officially re-opned its offices in the Amparai District and will shortly be opening its main headquarters in the capital Colombo.

This group is part of the (Shankar Raji) group of EROS that defied the LTTE and refused to disband when ordered to do so after one of its former leaders K.V Balakumaran joined the LTTE with some of its members in 1990.

Shankar Raji its former leader passed away in Colombo in January 2005 after suffering a massive heart attack at his residence in Colombo. His son Nesan Shankar Raji, challenged former members of EROS (Balakumaran Group) and played an active role in preventing EROS being absorbed by the LTTE and totally disbanded.

Nesan Shankar Raji was educated in India and lived with his father. He returned to the United Kingdom in '96 and joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) where he was awarded as an "RAF Marksman" and has worked for various UK Government Departments since and also acts as the International Head and spokesperson of EROS.

Shankar Raji's son Nesan is backed and supported by the regional commanders of EROS and he has been instrumental in re-building the organisation and restructuring it under the guidance of more senior members of EROS not affiliated with the LTTE.

EROS has wide support amongst the Tamil speaking people of the East and they are very happy that the organisation has decided to re-function there under their EDF (Eelavar Democratic Front) banner.
