Red Boys & Other Boys

(December, 18, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) After over a month long hullabaloos over the 2008 Budget of Mahinda, the regime has at last has secured its respite on 14th (Friday) December 2007 with 47 votes majority for the government due to unpredictable JVP somersaulting from its original position. Soon after the voting, JVP was given good publicity by the government media for their loyal service to save the government from its near collapse. Interestingly a section of the ruling party MP’s were euphoric upon the victory and were singings songs loudly in the parliament. The budget saga in Sri Lanka is becoming intriguing annual expeditions of the parliamentarians and the ruling elites, whilst people are left in the lurch in abject conditions.

What is more intriguing is whilst the budget punch ups were taking place, the President is roaming around the world on private visits guarded by officials incurring undisclosed costs to the government, whilst the state money printing machines were on the printing spree to fill the hole in the government finances. There are no provisions for these two daring clandestine activities of the insensitive and the uncaring government.

Red Boys

The JVP is branded as party belonging to the international Red Boys club. Unfortunately its conduct proves it has semblance of this serious group. It is an anarchic group thriving on the emotive race card and it needs all the succor and rancor from the vested interests like Mahinda government to further its hate campaign. The opposition UNP gave its condolence message to the JVP after third reading and vote, to insinuate its dubious path of self destruction. During second reading, it is the very same UNP that praised the JVP whilst ruling “Chinthanaya” government was highly critical of its stance.

"This pseudo Red Boys were one time respected for their tireless commitment and were considered as saviors of the nation. They do not muster this support any longer as more and more people are realizing Sinhalization policy has reached its limits. JVP is propagating “War and Violence” as its patriotic cocktail."

The JVP was strongly against all aspects of the budget and they did not mince their words even at the third reading. When it came to final vote, their hearts and minds were wide apart and sat without voting to gain something out of the crisis. They were also worried about their parliamentary seats, if they were to vote against the government. JVP is a party driven by emotions and self speaking eccentric characteristics.

This pseudo Red Boys were one time respected for their tireless commitment and were considered as saviors of the nation. They do not muster this support any longer as more and more people are realizing Sinhalization policy has reached its limits. JVP is propagating “War and Violence” as its patriotic cocktail. These ‘Red Boys’ are supported by the ‘Monk Boys’ and they have been given an open field by the “Chinthanaya” President to play the game of hate without even a referee to spot the foul plays.

Monk Boys

Immediately after the Second Reading of the Budget 2008, the so-called monk boys got in to action and were seen pasting hundreds of posters against Red Boys on the walls of Colombo City. Large size banners and cutouts against the Red Boys were exhibited in the city. The Monk Boys received all the credit from the ‘Chinthanaya” President for doing the dirty work for him by making the Red Boys abstaining from voting. None of these Red Boys or Monk boys will go to Vanni wearing the helmets and holding the sub-machine guns to defeat the Tamil Tigers.

These Boys will never win the heart and minds of the Tamil speaking people of Sri Lanka. These two Boys are more damaging to the Sinhala people than the Tamil Tigers. The Tamil Tigers are known enemies. But these two Boys are enemies within the Sinhala people and are causing enormous harm to the Sinhala race than the Tamil Tiger terrorists. The Chinthanaya President will use them to his advantage to secure his power. These two Boys and the Tigers Boys are the lethal cocktail mix that is ruining Sri Lanka and they allowing the Chinthanaya President to play dirty politics.

Other Boys

The theird type of Boys in the game is the present government and it has taken a new formation since Chinthanaya President taking office as the President. This hate machinery will attempt to out-beat any opposition to Sinhalization policy. It does not care about good governance and respect for opposition voices. The boys in the ruling SLFP have become specialists in suppressing dissent voices. The attacks on UNP supporters and Muslims politicians recently is testimony for suppression of opposition voices. What we see is just the beginning. The modern “Marauding Dutugamunu” is already here and he has been appointed as the SLFP organizer for Kelaniya few months ago.

These three Boys and the Tiger Boys will give everything to the Chinthanaya President to transform the beautiful Sri Lankan nation into an egalitarian and a primitive state.
