(December, 01, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) President Mahinda Rajapakse (MR) who has always shown an overriding concern only for his Cabinet of Ministers, kin and henchmen and a deriding concern for the masses has once again confirmed this by increasing the fuel allowances of the Government Ministers, Deputy Ministers, secretaries of ministries and provincial governors, ministers and secretaries by a massive 125 %! That is, by over Rs. 3 lakhs!The whole country is now well aware that we have a President who has acquired a reputation ( unsavoury, of course! ) who would gladly compromise the welfare and interests of the very people who elected him and this Govt. only if it serves him to continue in power.
This move is seen by political sources as another bid by the President to hold his equally treacherous ‘men’ together with him until he passes the budget on 14th Dec.
