The government’s budget was passed finally with 114 votes in favour and 67 opposed.(Update)

(December, 14 ( 5.55 pm.), Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The United People’s Freedom Alliance governments won their 3rd budget, the budget for 2008 of it 3nd terms with 47 votes more than the main opposition in Sri Lankan this evening (Monday, 14 , December).

Now the third reading of the budget finished it was voted final approval Government, Democratic faction of the UNP and Udewe Dhammloka Thero, JHU voted for the budget. But the SLMC, the UNP’s under Ranil Wickmasingahe, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and Mano Ganeshan who is the leader of the Western People’s Front, opposed the budget.

All are JVP MPs respectives, did not vote today.

Meanwhile minister of National heritage Mr. Anura Bandaranaike crossed over to opposition and sat on opposition Leaders seat, but he did net his vote to the Budget.

He brought to opposition by Opposition Leader Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe and Mr. Ravi Karunanayaka. Opposition MP's clapped when minister Bandaranaike taking seat on opposition.

“The opposition vows they can win this budget, but they can’t do it. There are more MPs with us than with the Opposition,” a Government Chief Wipe Jeyaraj Fernandufulle told the Media.

“Ranil has lost again. This time makes it his sixteen time of losing”, he added.
