(December, 07, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) LTTE's senior most Women's Military Wing cadre and leader of the Women's Wing, Vidusha has been sent to Vavuniya LTTE FDL to strengthen the organization's defenses in the area against continuous assaults by the Army. The Vauniya FDL is 'manned' by a large number of female cadres and it is hoped that Vidusha's coming would assist them hold the defenses against marauding Army units.
Pro-LTTE websites today claimed that 10 SLA were killed in Kurisuddankulam in Mannar and that for bodies of SLA are to be handed-over to the ICRC. A picture of four SLA bodies were also released. This claim, along with the photo is completely false. In the last two days, the Army launched several small-scale attacks on LTTE lines and movements without heavy casualties. SLA have not left behind any casualties either. Several bodies of LTTE cadres killed in these and previous skirmishes were handed-over to the ICRC by the SLA two days ago.
Meanwhile the death-toll in the Kebitigollewa II attack has increased to 16, with another injured civilian succumbing to injuries. The total injured civilians now stands at 22, a few of whom are in a critical condition. The death-toll in the parcel-bomb attack at Nugegoda has also increased to 20. In another development, Air Force spokesman Group Capt. Ajantha Silva has been sent to Pakistan as the Defence Attache at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Pakistan. Ajantha, a close confidante of the Air Force Commander, is a highly qualified aeronautical engineer specializing in fixed-wing aircraft. Defence cooperations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has increased during the recent past.
