(November, 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) A protest campaign is to be staged at the Fort Railway station today (6 Nov) at 12.30 p.m. by the newly formed Movement against Media suppression.
Untold sufferings, intimidation, murder threats, bans, attacks, arsons, abductions, killings and suppression have been faced by the Free Media during the last two years on a scale never before encountered in Sri Lanka’s history, said Sunanda Deshapriya, the Free Media movement Convener.
It is time all Media Organisations join together with the human rights, Trade Unions and civic Organsations to defend Media freedom, the touchstone of true Democracy and people’s freedom, he added.
