SLN honours Naval Heroes on Remembrance Day

(November, 11, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) In concurrence with the Remembrance Day ceremonies held nationwide to honour war heroes, Sri Lanka Navy held memorial ceremonies at its naval bases today (11th November) to honour the naval heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice in the defence of the motherland.

The Remembrance Day Ceremony held at the Navy Headquarters in Colombo was attended by Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral TMWKB Tennakoon and a large number of naval personnel. Two minutes’ silence was observed in honour of the fallen comrades and a commemorative poem was recited in tribute to their sacrifices at the ceremony.

“They shall grow not old
As we that are left grow old.
Age shall not wear them
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning
We shall remember them.”

Comrades, we salute you!

The memories of the sacrifices you have made shall be the guiding lights for us to steer ourselves by!
