(November, 11, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) South Indian Superstar Rajanikanth’s fans should not have forgotten the hilarious and horrendous meaning for "Professional Ethics" from his latest film "Sivaji". This reminds me of the "professional ethics" Among the winners of UKLanka Times Mr. Sathananthan was honoured for best legal services. Does he deserve such an award for his tangible service is not a question but his intangible service is already put to strict proof?

"For the first time in the history of the Sri Lankan Diaspora in the UK, excellence within the community was recognised by an independent community media organization.
The UKLanka Times. The winners in various categories were awarded the Community Awards 2007 on 13th of October 2007. This was an acknowledgement of " Tangible as well as intangible contributions made by these organizations and individuals to the community and Sri Lanka as a whole in a public forum. "
Whilst appreciating the intention and the need of such an honour to the Sri Lankan Diaspora community we are disappointed by the award to Mr. Sathananthan for "Best Legal Services".
Mr. Sathananthan was formerly an employee of the Sri Lankan Government. He worked as a legal officer in the Sri Lankan army before he came to the UK. He was also said to have worked in Chennai in the Sri Lankan High Commission when he had fear of reprisal from the Tamil militia who considered him to be a traitor. He claimed asylum in the UK and established the fact that his life was in danger in Sri Lanka at the hands of the Sri Lankan government, and others. This does not preclude him from being a lawyer who can provide Legal Services. He has built his fame and wealth out of his Legal Services. He has his bonanza from the British government Legal Aid system, by advising those who claim asylum from Sri Lanka alleging that they are tortured, incarcerated and ill treated by Sri Lankan army or police. He was apparently not ill-treated by his employer, the Sri Lankan Army when he was employed in Sri Lanka for being a Tamil. He proved he was a victim of the Sri Lankan Government and was therefore good at making his clients fall in line with him.
A couple of years ago one of Sathannthan’s clients alleged that his confidentiality was breached by his firm. Personal information of an asylum seeker known as "Napoleon" who is a member of EPDP was leaked out to a notorious pro-LTTE website, namely "Nitharsanam.com". The Nitharsanam website made use of the information to fabricate their own scandalous story hence pleasing LTTE readers. He was reported to have been angry with Satha and maintained a silence for fear of reprisal. However he had to find an alternative "best legal Service" provider to protect his interest.
It is a common knowledge that all those who come from Sri Lanka are not genuine refugees and most of them are making compelling and convincing stories with the help of Sri Lankan lawyers against the Sri Lankan government. It is said that many South Indian and Malaysian Tamils also benefit from the help of Sri Lankan lawyers when they claim asylum as Sri Lankans. They all have readymade storylines to suit the situation in Sri Lanka. Both the Sri Lankan authorities and the Sri Lankan lawyers of the UK are unknowingly working together to tarnish the image of Sri Lanka and earn not only money but also awards. At the end the ones who fear death in the hands of Sri Lankan forces wave to the forces when they are on holiday in Sri Lanka with foreign passports. Hence, the foreign governments especially Britain is an accomplice to the crime of forgery in making many bogus asylum seekers British.
