Budget is no exception only to the “Chinthanaya"

(November, 20, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Ever since President Rajapakse was enthroned, as he has been accused so have the people been aware of his betrayals, conspiracies and sordid games to be in power.

Indeed, it is a widely acknowledged fact that his winning at the last Presidential elections was by a sordid deal by payment of 150 million rupees to the LTTE (considered the worst ever betrayal by a Leader in Sri Lanka’s history-and against which there is a Parliamentary select Committee probe pending)

Therefore, winning on the budget vote yesterday while the people are in dire poverty is hardly an index that it is a reflection of the people’s victory in the context of current day politics of Rajapakse Bros., with those elected as people’s representatives , after winning, pole vaulting from one party to another deserting the voters and their policies for selfish portfolios and positions under Rajapakse who is also well noted for harbouring even the worst crime tainted politician if it can only serve the President’s political opportunism .

Meanwhile, Sripathy Sooriyarachy, formerly a Minister of the Government now of the National Congress told the Media today (20 Nov) that Kudu Lal and comrade Minister Mervyn Silva celebrated with a cracker lighting extravaganza at Rajagiriya extending up to Kanatte following the Budget voting. People were baffled at this wasteful celebration as they saw no cause for it, after the Govt. by the Budget has only kindled, and not doused the fire of starvation and sufferings of the people.
