"Haven’t the website managers who newsnap our stories and blatantly promote racism yet realized that it is their racist bigotry that has thrown the country into the deadly fires of terrorism from which we are unable to extricate ourselves all because racism is being continuously fanned by them?"
Catapult Thangavelu reporting from Sleuth Street, Slave Island
(October, 24, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Many of our exclusive stories are being newsnapped by certain websites who seem hard-up or unable to get their own hounds to get to work on the news tracks. If it serves the best interests of the country, we will certainly not mind this kind of activity provided they have the decency and decorum to give some credit to our efforts and the great job that is being done by the Sri Lanka Guardian journalists.
But what we certainly object and even deplore is when our stories, features and news items are used by websites that propagate and sustain racism in the country as if we have not had enough of it for the last fifty years. Sri Lanka Guardian was founded to strive for peace and amity in Sri Lanka and politically, a federal solution to our ethnic problems. We will stand steadfastly by this ideal.
Haven’t the website managers who newsnap our stories and blatantly promote racism yet realized that it is their racist bigotry that has thrown the country into the deadly fires of terrorism from which we are unable to extricate ourselves all because racism is being continuously fanned by them?
In recent days many of our exclusive features have been unashamedly newsnapped and with brazen boldness published as if they were the originals of the newsnappers and copied by others giving them the credits.
We know corruption reigns supreme in the country but when the Fourth Estate too becomes deliberately and manifestly a part of it, we have to hang our heads in shame for descending to such indecorous and undignified depths.
Home Unlabelled Unashamed newsnappers unabashedly go for our features
