Photo: Bjarni Vestmann, Minister Councellor at the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with S.P.Tamilselvan, Head of the LTTE Political Wing on 2nd October 2007 at the political head quarters in Kilinochchi.(October, 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Sri Lankan Monitoring Mission has shown displeasure towards the LTTE over the cheap publicity it gave to the visit of Iceland’s diplomat Bjarni Vestmann to Kilinochchi.
The meeting took place following a gentleman agreement reached between parties. But the LTTE acted in an irresponsible way by using the meeting to attract cheap publicity.
Meanwhile, the LTTE’s international Big Wig who participated in the peace talks facilitated by Norway tried to pacify the SLMM by making oral communications during the weekend. But in return the Big Wig was to receive a barrage of words from the other side, stating the SLMM had lost the little confidence it had so far.
