LTTE sea tiger cadres attempt to launch craft to the sea off Nayaru foiled

(October,03, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka Guardian) In the late hours yesterday, around 10.00 pm, LTTE Sea Tiger cadres made an attempt to launch some craft to the sea from Nayaru and Alampil South of Mulaithivu which was completely foiled by the naval patrol craft.

Initially two clusters consisting of about twenty (20) boats were launched from Nayaru and Alampil area to the sea. Later those boats started moving southward. However, the movement had been detected by the Fast Attack Craft of the Navy and engaged that resulted in complete abandoning of the LTTE’s intention.

Amidst the naval engagement, the LTTE Sea Tiger boats retreated and fled towards the beach from where they were launched.

Meanwhile Sri Lankan, Naval troops deployed in Nilaweli area in Trincomalee recovered a large stock of war-like materials including weapons, ammunitions and explosives on 02nd October 2007 around 11.00am, Navy sources said.

Acting on a piece of information, naval troops carried out a search operation to nab the hidden materials that could be retrieved to perpetrate sabotage and cause harm to the service personnel as well as civilians.
