( October, 08, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Tamil Eelam Makkalai Viduthalai Puligal (TMVP) has decided to suspend Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman from its leadership, a central committee member of the TMVP confirmed with the Sri Lanka Guardian.
Party's central committee met yesterday in Batticaloa at their Meenagam office under the operational leader of TMVP, Pilliyan to endorse the decision claiming that Karuna Amman has made several financial irregualaties of party funds. He is alleged to have mis -played some of Rs.800 millions and spent sum of Rs.5.5 millions monthly as his family expenses, the source told the Sri Lanka Guardian.
Karuna Amman who broke the LTTE in March, 2004 re- formed the TMVP party with the help of military and section of the government.
No immediate reaction from Karuna Amman on the latest development in his party, as he is not in the country. Now it's also not clear whether the LTTE played any role behind the curtain in this latest unprecedented move.
He has left the country two weeks ago and now some where in Scotland with his two children and wife according to reliable sources. Intelligence officials, who worked closely with both Karuna and Pilliyan also tied lipped about the latest twist.
Karuna had internal problem with his second in command Pilliyan early this year, but managed to patch up by influential figures closed to both parties.
Chandrakanathan alias Pillayan, the mastermind of several suicide attacks come from Valachchnai , Batticaloa.
