Pro-LTTE leader Nedumaran and his suppoters arrested

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) supporters in India are making news.

P. Nedumaran, head of the Pro-LTTE Tamil National movement and 500 voluteers were arrested by the police in Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu.

He was to leave for Jaffna through the Palk Strait on today Wednesday 12 September 2007.

The TNM leader was planning to lead a team carrying food, medicines and other essential items for civilians in LTTE-dominated areas of Sri Lanka.

This, after the Indian Red Cross refused to carry supplies that his organisation had collected for the Tamils there. But the boatmen at Nagapattinam refused to carry the group across to Sri Lanka.
